Tyres, elastic other than pneumatic.-The base A of a solid rubber tyre is formed with a circumferential groove in which fits an inextensible core, consisting of plies of wire B separated by layers B<1> of rubber or canvas. The body A of the tyre is then superimposed and the whole vulcanized in a suitable mould. The wire B, Fig. 3, used in the base is covered with cotton B' treated with sulpherized rubber and an outer coating B<3> of rubber.
