Abstract

11,298. Quelch, H. C. May 30. Spray-producers. - Relates to a spray-producer in which the air pressure is obtained by a piston pump, and comprises various constructural improvements in that type of spray - producer in which a constricted valveless outlet is used, and the air passes around the piston to the pressure side during the back stroke. Fig. 2 shows a scent sprayer in which the pump cylinder D is fixed to the cover C of the bottle A. The cylinder D is fitted with a piston formed of a cupvalve F<2>, and at the bottom with an outlet pipe E with a constricted orifice E'. The rod F is provided with guides H moving in holes J' in the cylinder cup J, so that, when the piston is depressed, it may be held in the position shown in Fig. 2 by rotation of the rod F. A sprirg K returns the piston when released. The pipe F is preferably bent to discharge into the space above the level of the liquid with which the nozzle M communicates. This nozzle is of the usual construction, with the fine tube L leading down into the liquid.
