Abstract
8973. Hewitt, P. C. May 13, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Converting alternating and direct currents.-A vapour converter 1 is provided with two or more cathodes 2, 3, each having projecting above the surface of the mercury or like liquid a point or ring 5, 6 of a material, such as platinum which is wetted by mercury. These cathodes may b e used to supply separate circuits 13, 14 simultaneously. There may also be two or more anodes 4, to which the work circuits may be connected instead of to the cathodes.
