Abstract

6448. Bastian, C. O., and Calvert, G. March 27. Quantity meters, electrolytic. The recombination of hydrogen and oxygen produced in electrolytic meters is effected by means of a mixture of two or more catalytic substances, such as platinum and palladium, or platinum-black and palladium-black. The substances may be mechanically mixed, or may be precipitated electrolytically or chemically from solutions of their salts, or be reduced from a mixture of the salts, for example, from platinum and palladium chlorides; they may be mixed with glass wool and enclosed in a porous container, or may be attached to any suitable surface, preferably an adhesive surface.
