Abstract
5867. Schou, P. March 20. Thrust bearings; supporting or mounting.- Relates to thrust bearings in which an elastic ring containing fluid is inserted between the bearing and the support to allow lateral movement of the shaft A fluid ring b, Fig. 1, bears in a recess in the shaft-supporting collar a, and against a fixed ring d. The collar a may be in two parts, the ring b bearing in a recessed ring fitted on the collar. The outer side of the ring b may bear on a ring, the outer side of which is spherical and fits a corresponding recess in the ring d, in which case the riug d may be formed in two parts m, n, as shown in Fig. 4. The spherical ring k, Figs. 6 and 9, may be formed with projecting flanges q bearing on rings r of india-rubber &c. in the collar a, and is in two parts connected by screws t, one of which may project into the parts m, n to prevent turning. The ring k may be whole, in which case a loose piece v, Fig. 7, is used, and the loose parts q, ware afterwards screwed into position as shown. Pinsp &c. are used to prevent the collar a from turning with the shaft. Suitable channels for lubricant are provided.
