Abstract
4377. Denny, d'A. March 2. Games played with balls, cords, and bats or rackets.-An indoor game is played by two players, each preferably provided with a bat or racket with which to strike at a xylonite ball C contained in a net c suspended by a cord D from a post A. Each player tries to wind the cord D around the post A by striking the ball C. For convenience in packing, the post A is made in sections, connected by sockets B formed of metal tubing contracted at the centre. The post A is connected to the back of a chair by means of a cord F, or a strap and buckle, which is fastened to the top rail of the chair. The cord F is attached to a band E adjustably held to the post by a screw e. The post A is so arranged that the back-legs of the chair are off the ground, a point being lost bya player who knocks the chair over. The net c is formed with an opening just large enough to admit the ball C.
