Abstract
29,605. Walker, J., Carver, H, Walker, H., and Wall Paper Manufacturers, Ltd. Dec. 31. Photo-mechanical printing.-Printing-rollers are prepared photographically by printing the pattern on to a sensitized roller and afterwards etching the roller. The pattern is printed from the cylinder b, Fig. 1, on to the roller a by the use of cylindrical lenses c, d. The pattern may be produced upon transparent paper which is attached to the inner surface of the cylinder, or the cylinder may have the pattern produced directly upon it. For tone printing, a cylindrical tone-screen is interposed between the cylinder band roller a, or the cylinder itself may be hatched. According to a modified method, the cylinder rotates on the outside of the roller a, Fig. 4, which is encased in the date chamber g. Instead of lenses, a narrow slit e may be used, the light being situated within the cylinder b. For a repeat pattern, only a part of the cylinder b is used, the remainder being opaque, and after each printing the roller or cylinder is rotated to print a contiguous pattern. For colour processes, separate printing-rollers are prepared for the separate colours.
