Abstract

6093. Gaultier, P. L. V. March 13. Lithographic and like printing.-A process for the photo-lithographic reproduction of drawings, pictures, and the like consists in printing from a collodion negative upon glazed paper sensitized with gelatine and ammonium bichromate, and developing in water. The print is then inked with a flannel roller and sponged several times, dried and again moistened, and then transferred to a stone or zinc surface, from which reproductions are obtained. From tracings, a negative print may be prepared, and treated as above, In reproduction from half-tone originals, sponging of the print is omitted. The process may be applied to negatives obtained for each of the primary colours or superimposed impressions in different tones of one colour may be made from two or three prints obtained from the same negative by exposures of different length. Should one image not correspond in size, a proof on tbin paper is cut up and placed in exact registration upon a proof from the one taken as standard, and from the re-constituted image a re-transfer of correct dimensions is made.
