Abstract

26,885. Tibbetts, C. H. Dec. 14, A.D. 1903, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Rails, securing to sleepers.-Fasteners adapted to facilitate the securing of rails to sleepers, permitting vertical play to the rails without lateral displacement thereof, are shown in Figs. 1 and 3. Resilient members 3, having a hook 6 at one end gripping the rail, are reversely placed under the rail, their other extremities being provided with holes whereby they may be secured to the ties by spikes. To obviate lateral displacement, brace members 7, shown in elevation in Fig. 3, are disposed on opposite sides of the rail at each side of the tie. One extremity grips the rail by a hook, while the other is pivotally secured to the tie by a fastening 11. An additional fastening 12 is driven through a slot 10, which is extended in order to allow of the vertical movement of the rail.
