Abstract

26,215. Tooley, W. J. Dec. 2. Motor velocipedes ; bicycles; frames; steering- mechanism. - Comprises an arrangement of the frame and steering-mechanism of a motor or other cycle, which arrangement facilitates mounting and dismounting. Figs. 1 and 2 show the framework formed of an upper tubular member a extending round the front steering-wheel and having forks resting upon the rear road-wheel axle. Two lower members b are supported from the upper member a and form supports for the motor and the seat and steering-pillars c, d. The steering-wheel axle f<1> is connected by links d<2>, d' to the steering-pillar, and has rollers f<2> which run in grooves on the underside of the segmental brackets a' attached to the upper member a of the framework. These grooves are upwardly curved at each end, and the brackets are inclined so that the axle of the front wheel is tilted on passing round curves. The Provisional Specification states that the steering- axle may be pivoted to the frame at one end and have the other end working in a guide-bar on ball or other bearings.
