Abstract

25,085. Calthrop, E. R. Nov. 18. Rails, securing to sleepers.-Forms of metallic clips are described for securing rails to metallic sleepers. Fig. 1 shows the clips in position, each of them having a shank such as 4, which extends throughout its whole length, and is passed through a perforation in the sleeper and riveted underneath, preferably while hot. The one clip has a projection 3 engaging the rail-flange, while the opposite clip is spaced to allow the rail to be inserted between the two clips and afterwards secured by a wedge 11. Fig. 5 shows a modified form of clip having two short shanks and an indentation 16 in its lower surface to facilitate riveting. For securing two rails side by side, a clip having projections on each side at the head may be used ; also the clips may be used on one side of the rail, and the other side secured by wedges to an upwardly - bent portion of the metallic sleeper.
