Abstract
20,789. Kleist, E. de. Sept. 27. Automatic instruments.-Pneumatic actions for piano-players, automatic pianos, and similar instruments, and more particularly actions of the kind described in Specification No. 9019, A D. 1903, have the suction and vent valves i, i<1> adjustably mounted on screwed stems j, j<1> and clamped in such away as to be capable of swivelling. Each valve chamber is composed of two sections which are applied to opposite sides of the main wind board E<1>, so that the chamber is partly inside and partly outside the exhaust chest E. The valve stems j, j<1> are carried by the sliding rod k, and the stem j<1> extends through the vent port h<1> and terminates in the eye j<2>. To swivel the valves, each valve is clamped upon its stem by the nuts m, m<1> which bear against the opposite sides of the flexible facing i<2> of the valve, but not against the valve button or body. A closing-spring n is applied to the stem of each exhaust valve.
