Abstract
20,228. Hayes, F. Sept. 20. Driving and actuating mechanism.-In a device for gripping the hand-wheel actuating a screw clutch, especially applicable to dough-mixing machines, a loaded lever d, supported by a catch e upon a tilting-bar g, actuates, through a rock-shaft i, levers k, l, crank m, shaft n, and cam o, two claws p, q, the friction jaws r of which grip the hand-wheel c, whereby the clutch is screwed, by the rotation of the driving-pulley, out of action. A collar extension q<1> of the claw q prevents rotary motion of the mechanism. A brake may be applied at the same time to the driving-shaft and springs or weights may be used to effect the release of the wheel c by the grips. The Provisional Specification states that the grips are actuated from the rock-shaft i by two connecting-rods joined by a link, and that the catch e engages the framing.
