Abstract

19,443. Dack, W. N., Fielding, J., and Rogerson, J. Sept. 9. Lift valves; actuating valves and cocks.-Fig. 1 shows a beat or lift admission valve suitable for steam or other fluid-pressure engines. The valve A is of the multiple-beat type and closes on a correspondingly-arranged seat B, and is connected by ribs to the dash-pot. cylinder A<1>, in which works a spring-controlled and eccentric-operated piston G. To open the valve, the cylinder is depressed by the piston G coming in contact with the disc J at the bottom of the cylinder. A cylindrical guide is formed in the casing for the dash-pot cylinder A'. Fig. 5 shows a modification for an internalcombustion engine, in which motion is given to the valve by the downward movement of the cylinder G and the piston T. Various slight modifications of inlet and exhaust valves are described in the Specification.
