19,266. Ziegenberg, R. Sept. 6. Primary batteries ; secondary batteries. - In galvanic cells where the electrodes are of lead peroxide and zinc, respectively, the latter is replaced by an alloy of, approximately, 90 per cent. of zinc and small proportions of pure English tin, pure lead, and mercury. It is stated that with this alloy there is very little wastage by solution in the dilute sulphuric acid electrolyte when the battery is in open circuit and that the potential is constantly high. After discharge, the deoxidized lead electrode may be regenerated by insertion as the anode in an ordinary PlantÚ cell.
