Abstract

16,625. Singleton, T., and Singleton, G. W. July 28. Loom let-off motions.-As the warp diminishes on the beam 3, Fig. 1, the feeler 10 allows the shaft 5 to revolve and carry with it the bracket 4, enabling the spring 6 to expand and reduce the drag on the beam. The spring 6 encircles one end of a rope or chain 1, which passes through a slot in the bracket 4 and is connected at its other end to special springs 8. Loom shuttles; cop tubes.-To facilitate threading, a flanged plug 12, Figs. 3, 4, and 5, is fixed at one end of the shuttle, and the thread is passed around the plug into the saw-gate 14, whence, after passing into the hole 13 and around the point of a pin 16 in a groove 15, the thread enters the eye. The eye may consist of a wire hoop 21 having one end projecting into a groove 22 in the other end, or it may consist of a metal plate having one portion bent back into a groove in the side of the shuttle. A screw projecting into a vertical hole may replace the pin 16. Fig. 13 shows a combined peg - holding and threading device stamped from a sheet-metal blank. Fig. 15 is a modified form of peg-holding device. The hinged catch 35 is carried by a pin 36 extending across the shuttle, and is kept in position against the head 37 of the peg by a spring attached to the side of the shuttle. The catch may be pivoted horizontally. When two pegs are employed, the eyes are arranged at opposite sides of the shuttle. The Provisional Specification states that the cop may be spun on a metallic spiral to prevent it from being knocked off and also to enable the peg to be easily inserted.
