Tyres, pneumatic etc.; felloes o r rims. - Detachable side-pieces are provided for attaching elastic tyres to the rims of wheels of motor cars and other heavy vehicles, The hollow metal rim 1, Figs. 3 and 6, is formed with curved edges 3 of diameter intermediate to the diameters of the inner and outer surfaces of the rim. In each edge lies a hollow or solid side piece 4 consisting of a split ring, of which the abutting ends are normally secured together by a staple 8 and nuts 9. Triangular-sectioned rings 21 may be interposed between the tyre 14 and the rim. The side-pieces may have turned-in edges 6, Fig. 6, to engage the edges of the tyre, and they may be secured together by transverse bolts 13. The abutting ends of the side-pieces 5, Fig. 9, may be secured together by right and left handed screws 12 engaged in projections 11 from plugs 10 fixed in the ends. The metal rim may be shrunk on to a wooden felloe.
