Abstract

13,009. Worringen, E. June 8. Rotary disc valves; actuating valves and cocks.- In a device for shutting off and distributing gas in connection with gas igniters actuated from a distance, a rotary valve s, Fig. 1, which is furnished with teeth z is operated by a fork c jointed to a spring-controlled lever h, the lever being actuated by hand or in the usual manner by air pressure or an electric motor. In one form, the valve consists of a hollow disc having an annular groove e, Fig. 2, which communicates with the inlet passage k in the seating and is provided with a number of uniformlydistributed outlets o. Two outlet passages l, l<1> supply the lighting and igniting flames respectively. The distance between the openings l, l<1> is equal to half the distance between adjacent openings o, and, as the valve is moved at each operation through half the distance between adjacent openings o. the lighting and igniting flames are fed alternately. In a modification, the outlet passage openings o communicate with each other and with the supply passage by an arrangement of annular and radial grooves, the supply passage opening into the annular groove. In another arrangement, two supply passages k, k<1>, Fig. 5, may be arranged in the seating at a distance apart equal to half the distance between adjacent outlet openings, or they may be replaced by one wide supply passage. The valves may also be applied to street and similar lamps in which one part of the burners is to be ignited or extinguished earlier than the other, the lamps being provided with continuously-burning pilot flames. In each valve, the openings are arranged in pairs o, o<1>, Fig. 10. The valves of the different burners may be placed in different relative positions so that one burner is being fed through its opening o while another is fed through its opening o<1>; thus, when the valves are rotated together, the first burner is fed through its opening o<1>, the other burner having its flame extinguished. Or the supply passages instead of the valves may be placed in different relative positions.
