Window blinds.- Blinds or screens C, D, Fig. 3, of wire or other fabric may be mounted on ordinary wooden spring rollers A, B suitably held in brackets E<1>, I' at the bottom and top of the window frame respectively. The brackets I', Fig. 8, witb guards J flush with the outer edge of the strips g', are fixed to the inner side strips f<1>, Fig. 3, of the frame by screws passing through slots w to allow of adjustment, and by studs in the strips g' engaging with the slots u, v, suitable sockets t being provided for the roller ends. In Fig. 9, which represents one of the lower brackets, the guard F, screw slot n, socket i, and the notch m for the plug, are shown differently arranged. Strips G, G, Fig. 3, of thin metal are fitted to the top and bottom of the window between the guards E', J, the ends partly overlapping those guards. They have slotted holes through which the holding-nails pass, to allow of adjustment, and help to guide the screens or blinds, as well as to keep insects, dust, &c. from coming in between the rollers and the top or bottom of the window. The sheet metal and bars K, Fig. 12, are clamped to the ends of the blinds C, and provided with finger-hooks L soldered or otherwise fixed on the back, having holes in the back portion to engage with headed studs on the window-sashes when desired. Slide guides M', M<3>, Fig. 3, with curved lower and upper ends respectively projecting over the faces of the brackets E', I', guide the edges of the blind after leaving the rollers A, B, and are also made of thin metal attached similarly to the strips G, G, and easily cut to the right length while fitting the blind.
