Abstract

10,867. Peschges, H. May 11. Sewage, treating; decanting.-Solids or slime and grease are separated from water or sewage in a syphon apparatus. A closed tank a is respectively connected by pipes d, e. f furnished with cocks, to a preliminary well d<2>, which the sewage &c. enters by the pipe d', to a discharge well e' with a discharge pipe g, and to a well i where the slime is treated. The inlet d<1> is at a higher level than the outlet g, so that, when the tank a has been filled with water or other liquid through the pipe b, a siphonic action takes place, by which the liquid is drawn up the pipe d and the heavier portion, silt, &c., passes down the pipe f into the well i, while the lighter portion passes down the pipe e to the discharge well e', the floating grease passes down the pipe f <1> to the well i. A pipe c with a cock is provided for the escape of air from the tank a when it is first filled.
