5040. Bishop, A. H. March 1. Jars and like vessels. - A jam jar &c. A is formed with a ledge a for the end of the spoon to rest on, to prevent the spoon from sinking into the jam. In the case of a square glass jar, the ledge is formed by pressing one of the corners inwards while the jar is being moulded. The ledge may be formed all around the jar, or at each of the four corners.
