Abstract

28,226. Boake, E. J. Dec. 23. Flavourings.-Esters, essential oils, &c. are dissolved in the harder portion of the fat separated from copra or the like. Esters are extracted from the mixture of acid, alcohol, and ester which is usually distilled in the process of obtaining esters by adding the fat in a liquid form. On solidifying, the fat contains all the ester, and may be used to extract ginger, orris, &c. Insoluble substances may be incorporated with the fat by keeping the liquid mixture in agitation during cooling.
