Abstract

22,936. Pugh, J. V., and Lanchester, F. W. Oct. 23. Soldering coolers or condensers for motor road vehicles. In an arrangement such as that shown in Fig. 14, the cooler is built up from a number of cells each consisting of two pressed tinned plates a, b soldered together on their outer edges, the plates having holes punched in them. A number of these cells are stacked together, the edges of the holes being beaded over as shown, or provided with ferrules or eyelets which are similarly beaded over. A hot bar, passed through the series of holes and clamped, melts the tin at the joints, and the bar, as it cools down and contracts, forces the cells together and makes a series of secure joints.
