Abstract

20,150. Renard, C. Sept. 18. Steering ; roles.-Relates to means for steering trains of vehicles on roads. If the leading axle turns on its centre for steering, the pole G, E, Fig. 11, which turns the axle is coupled to the rear of the vehicle in front, and the distances G H and E F, of the points G, E from the fixed axles are made such that GE<2>=GH<2>-EF<2>, in order that the vehicles may follow each other round a curve of uniform radius. If the vehicle is steered by means of jointed axles and links and levers as shown in Fig. 13, a similar condition is observed. The pole h is made with a ball joint at i and a horizontal pin joint at o.
