Abstract

17,205. Boult, A. J., [Giraud, L.]. Aug. 7. Plug cocks. - In a flushing -cistern divided into two closed compartments a, b, these compartments are filled, i turn, through a plugcock e, which also acts as the discharge valve of the compartments. A separate float valve is thus dispensed with. The atmosphere has free access to the compartments, when filling and emptying, by passages l guarded by ball valves s, which float up against seats, as shown, when the water rises, and thus prevent escape of water. In the position shown, the supply, entering by the pipe c, passes through the port m in the plug to the compartment a by the pipe j, the compartment b meanwhile discharging through the port o. When the plug is turned, either by hand or through the lever f and pull-chains g connected together by the lever i, the compartment a empties through the port o, and the compartment b is re-charged through the port n. The movements of the lever f are limited by stops p.
