15,919. Braeuer, J. July 18. Gasaliers, chandeliers, and oil-lamp pendants.- Relates to gripping- devices for suspending lamps and other articles. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a pyramidal casing g is suspended by chains or rods from the ceiling, and the rod s, which may be round, triangular, square, or of other section, carries, at its lower end, a hook to which a lamp &c. is attached. Balls k bear against the rod and hold it in position. By means of a ring h, the balls may be raised when it is desired to alter the position of the rod s. The parts may be inverted by fixing the rod s and having the casing g movable, and carrying the lamp &c. This arrangement is shown in Figs. 4 and 5. A spring-actuated plate f normally presses the balls upwards, and the ring h is provided to press the balls downwards when it is desired to lower the casing. In the form shown in Fig. 7, a ring h having a conical base is fitted to slide on the rod s ; the ring is caused to rise by moving the rod s in such a way that the conical base of the ring engages the piece o of an outer case r, which surrounds the case g. The motion of the ring h raises the balls, and allows the position of the rod to be adjusted.
