Abstract

15,247. Darrah, H. M., and Hackett, L. A. July 10. Incandescent lamps, holders for. The body of the holder and the cord or wire grips are so formed that the one cannot rotate independently of the other, and so as to prevent short-circuiting between the bare ends of the wires. The insulating-body f, g is formed with an upstanding transverse ridge d, and the lower part of each of the cord grips e, Fig. 1, is correspondingly bevelled. The casing may comprise an inner tube a and outer tubes b, c, between which the shade is fixed. The insulating-body is preferably made in two pieces f, g, Fig. 10, each having recesses h, i forming cavities for the reception of the terminals j. Holes k, gx, in the parts f, g, serve, respectively, for the passage of the wires to the terminals j, and of the plungers m, n. A flange, such as f<x>, in one piece f, fits into a recess in the other piece g and thus prevents relative rotation. A recess in the piece f may replace the ridge d, in which case the cord grip has projections to correspond. In holders in which the cord grips are dispensed with, the upper part of the casing b is formed separate from the lower part and with an annular flange, wherein are cut recesses to engage the ridge d. Reference is made in the Provisional Specification to Specification No. 21,604, A.D. 1902.
