Abstract

10,715. Lapp, V. May 11. Moving-beater apparatus. -Relates to a machine for brewing- operations and serving for the mashing process and for digging up and removing the spent grains. The vane shaft 1 is capable of rotating in either direction on the driving - shaft 2, which carries a spurwheel 4 and a bevelwheel 5. The spurwheel 8, engaged by the spur-wheel 4, drives a wheel 9 mounted on a hollow shaft 10 which slides on and rotates with a solid shaft 11 carrying blades 12. The spurwheel 13 is driven by means of an intermediate wheel 14. The wheel 15, loosely mounted on the hub of the wheel 4 and held stationary by rods 16, engages the wheels 17, 18 mounted on shafts 19, 20 which pass freely through the wheels 8, 13. By turning the spindle 25, one or other of the clutches 21, 23 or 22, 24 is made to engage by means of the screw threads 27, nuts 28, and elbow levers 29, 30, so that the wheel 8 is made to rotate with the wheel 17, or the wheel 13 with the wheel 18, and the frame 1 is caused to rotate either in the same direction as, or in the opposite direction to, the shaft 2. The shaft 7 is rotated continuously in the same direction by means of the bevel-wheels 5, 6. The blades 47 are made with sockets 46 provided with short arms 48 which are joined together in rows by rods 49 connected to the sleeve 50. By turning the hand-wheel 52, the shaft 51 is rotated and moves the sleeve 50, by means of suitable gearing, and the blades 47 are turned on the pins 45. Part of the solid shaft 11 is made as a rack 33 gearing with a pinion 35, which is rotated by means of worm gearing 37, 38 from the internally-toothed wheel 39 mounted loosely on the hollow shaft 10. On turning the handwheel 43, the wheel 39 is rotated by means of the bevel gearing 41, 40, and the shaft 11 is raised or lowered.
