Abstract
10,116. Carbone, T. L. May 4. Reflectors; globes.-Globes are formed or provided with a conical portion, the apex of which points to the source of light and acts as a reflector. The globe a, Fig. 1, may be made of semi-transparent, opalescent, ground, or clear glass ; the cone b is, preferably, of denser glass than the rest of the globe. Rays from the source c are reflected and transmitted by the cone. The cone and the globe may form one piece or the cone may be removable, so that different cones may be employed to proauce different light effects. The sides of the cone may slope uniformly, may be concave, convex, concavo-convex, or varied in other ways, in order to render the illumination uniform or otherwise, the choice depending on whether the source emits the same intensity of light at all angles, or not. The cone may be arranged in any position with regard to the source, and if required, the inner side of the cone may have a metallic coating, so as to be totally reflecting.
