Abstract

10,087. Tennant, J. T. C., and Tennant, L. May 4. Windows; window holders.-Relates to sliding sashes, which may be revolved for cleaning and ventilation. The sashes are guided by pins f, h, Fig. 3, engaging grooves b, c in the frame. A parting - bead extends across the top and bottom of the frame and excludes draught &c. The upper s a s h may be held at any desired height, or both sashes held closed by means of spring pawls p, Fig. 4, engaging ratchet - wheels on pinions k mounted in the stiles of the lower sash and working in racks on the inner face of the upper sash. For ventilation, the sashes are turned on the lower pins and held by cords l, the upper pins passing through slots b<1>, c<1> formed in the grooves and provided with covers or wedges. To reverse the sashes for cleaning, the lower ends are raised in the grooves, as the sashes are turned.
