Abstract
3745. Prince, C. O. Sept. 2, A.D. 1902, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Electric railways and tramways with overhead conductors. Collectors.-To prevent the trolley pole from flying up if the trolley wheel escapes from the wire, a cross-bar 1 with projecting arms 4, 12 at its ends is adjustably mounted on the pole by a clamp 2. A roller 13 may be mounted above the cross-bar 1 or otherwise attached to bear under the trolley wire. The arms 4, 12 may be carried by spindles in the ends of the bar or tube 1, with springs 5 and stops 11 to keep the arms 4 upright and to limit their motion when they encounter span wires &c.
