Abstract
26,371. Kronstein, A. Nov. 29. Coated fabrics.-In the manufacture of alkaliproof linoleum or lincrusta, coagulated Chinese wood oil or tung oil, or a mixture thereof with other oils or resins, is substituted for solidified linseed oil and gum copal, or for solidified linseed oil obtained by the Taylor process. The coagulated product is mixed with ground cork or other fillers and with colour by means of kneading- rollers. After passing the mixture through a mill and again rolling and kneading it, the mass is spread on a surface or base of fabric or the like by hot rollers, and smoothed by heated ironing or smoothing rollers. The linoleum thus made is then dried at a temperature of from 50‹ to 60‹ C. If the Chinese wood oil is used alone, it is solidified at a temperature of not more than 220‹ C., but, if used with other oils and with or without resins, the temperature may be increased to 300‹ C. The hot products, as drawn off from the kettle, are spread in thin layers to avoid self-ignition, and are subsequently powdered or ground. Inlaid linoleum may be made in a similar manner.
