Abstract

23,204. Best, G. Oct. 24. Shocks, preventing.- Relates to means for preventing concussion of water in pipes and consequent wear and damage to valves and cocks, and consists in passing the water through an aircushioning vessel, as shown in Fig. 1. The air vessel consists of a cylindrical or other flanged vessel d inverted in a larger vessel a, which is provided with inlet and outlet passages b, c respectively. The inlet is preferably made smaller than the outlet, and the tap or cork may be connected direct to the outlet or to a pipe connected thereto. Covers f, g are provided at the ends of the vessel. For supplying lavatory basins and for similar purposes several discharge valves may be connected to a single discharge pipe.
