Abstract

20,332. Lloyd's Cycle Fittings, Ltd., W. A., and Lloyd, W. A. Sept. 18. Clutches.-The free-wheel clutch mechanism of the wheel of a cycle or other vehicle is placed in the hub and at the side of the sprocket-wheel, which may therefore be made smaller than usual. The sprocket-wheel e is screwed upon the driving- sleeve c, and is secured by a locking-ring g ; the screwed parts of the sleeve c are of different diameters, and are screwed with threads of.opposite hands. The pawls d are placed in recesses in a lateral extension of the sleeve c, and are held in place by the side of the wheel e and by a flat ring f. The pawls work in connection with teeth on the interior of a ring b screwed into the enlarged end a of the hub. The sleeve c runs on balls m' in races on a fixed double cone k and an adjustable cone n. This arrangement of parts may be used with clutch mechanisms of the roller, ball-pawl, and similar types.
