Printing in several colours.-Relates to arrangements for printing in several colours in an ordinary one-colour perfecting printing-mechanism, such as a Cox-Duplex press. Each of the beds h, n carries four forms arranged side by side transversely to the direction in which the web travels. Each form is made up for one colour, and is supplied with ink of that colour from the ink fountains H, which are divided by blocks into the same number of compartments as there are colours. The leather feed-tapes B are arranged on the drive side instead of on the plain side of the press. The web, which is wide enough to cover two forms, is led from a roll a to a roller a', over a roller b<1> under a roller b<2>, over a looper e, under a guide f, over a guide g, and between the cylinder i and bed h. The web is thus printed on one side from two of the forms which have been supplied with black ink. It then passes over a guide j, under a guide k, over guides l, m, and between the cylinder o and bed n, where the other side of the web is printed in black. From the rolls s the web is led under an adjusting- roller t, over a guide u, and over angle-bars w, by which it is deflected to one side of its former path, and this portion of the web, after passing over guides x, y, u, passes again through the machine, being perfected in colours from the other forms. After reaching the rolls s the second time, the web is led out to a guide z, and then to the folder and former F. To obviate the necessity of laterally moving the feed-tapes on the rolls b, b<1> b<2>, an extra guide D is journalled in arms D<1> attached to a cross-stay D<2>. After its first passage through the machine, the web is led from the roller u under the rollers D, b<2>, over the looper e, and thence through the machine.
