F a c i n g - brick8.-The exposed sides or ends of wall bricks are faced with slabs of marble, granite, serpentine, onyx, quartz, porphyry, or other natural stone, in order to render the bricks ornamental, waterproof, and light- reflecting. The slabs are cemented to the bricks, and the adjoining faces may be roughened or recessed to assist the cementing action. Cement or molten met may be poured into undercut recesses after the faces of the bricks and slabs are cemented together. The slabs may be cut from an ornamented piece of stone. Fig. 5 shows the application of facing-slabs 1, 2, 3 to rounded or nosed bricks.
