Holdfasts.-To enable acetylene and other gas service pipes to be run in any direction, so as to be in sight and readily accessible for repairs, the pipe fittings 6 are screwed into plates 4, which are attached either directly to the wall 8 or to wooden faceplates which are themselves so secured upon the wall as to render it unnecessary to cut the plaster or deface the wall paper. As the service pipe does not enter through the plates 4, the plates are either formed without through openings, or the end is closed by the screwed nipple by which the fitting 6 is attached.
