Abstract

10,096. Datta, P. K. May 1. Buoyancy, increasing; stability, increasing; twin vessels.-Relates to a boat or vessel for carrying passengers, animals, or cargo, or for a lifeboat, having great buoyancy and stability. The buoyancy is derived from the inclusion within the structure of the vessel, or its secure attachment thereto, of a volume of the plant sola, and the stability from a wide beam derived by constructing the vessel in two similar halves with a space between, which is bridged by a deck or platform. The deck portion between the half-hulls A, B has bundles of the dried sola plant a rigidly attached on the underside, so that, in the event of the destruction of the hulls, the deck or platform serves as a raft. The bundles a, b, of the sola are secured by wire netting.
