4986. Fisher, A. W. Feb. 27. Reachers or long-arms.-Consists of means for lifting down and replacing boxes, trays, drawers, &c. placed on shelves &c. at a height where they are ordinarily out of reach. The device comprises a socket B fixed to a plate secured to the box &c., and a projection D adapted to engage the socket and formed on one side of a sleeve F fixed on the end of a pole. Modifications in the shape of the projection and socket are described. For instance, the projection may be a fork, or rectangular in shape, the socket being in each case modified to fit it.
