Abstract

3094. Stott, J. H. Feb. 7. Yarns, balling.-The balling-head of a machine for balling warps is driven by means of bevel gearing mounted on a horizontal shaft, connected by bevel gearing to a horizontal shaft d, which carries a friction-plate b<1> movable along the shaft. This plate presses against a second friction-plate secured to a shaft c, driven by bevel gearing 2, 4 from the shaft carrying the lowest roller r of a series of rollers r, r<1>, r<2>, which draw the warps w from the sections. A ring, stave, roller, or the like e, carried by a pivoted rod e<1>, is supported by the warps and connected by a link g, lever h, and spring i to a pivoted lever j, which engages with a grooved boss on the plate b<1> The pressure between the plates is thus regulated by the varying tension of the warps.
