Abstract

Feeding sheets.-Newspapers, pamphlets, prints, or other articles requiring to be fed forward singly are pressed by a plate f against the rotating disc c forming the end of the box. A hook x, Fig. 4, on the end of the rod uis caused by the cam v to fall upon, and engage, the end pamphlet. The rod u is carried on a lever p pivoted to a sliding block r and is pressed to the right against a spring t by a cam 1 drawing with it the pamphlet and enabling the beak m formed on the disc c to pass behind it. In rotating, the disc separates the end pamphlet from the remainder, causing it to pass between the disc and the semicircular disc d, and finally releasing it as shown by the arrow in Fig. 1. The rod p may be worked by a grooved face cam. A spring y on the rod u is adjusted so as to prevent the hook x from engaging more than one pamphlet. The plate f is drawn forward by a spring barrel j and cords h lying in grooves in the base of the machine.
