23,989. Gibbs, G., [Executrix of Gibbs, W.]. Nov. 26. Corks; capsuling and sealing bottles, jars, &c.-To prevent bottles, jars, and other vessels from being surreptitiously opened by children or others without detection, a cap B of soft metal, such as thin tin, is fitted over the end of the ordinary cork A, and the cork is in. serted until the top of the cap is flush with the mouth of the vessel, the flange C of the cap being within the neck. A corkscrew can be inserted through the cap to remove the cork. As the cork cannot be withdrawn without injuring the cap, the latter serves to indicate whether the vessel has been opened.
