Axle-boxes; axle-trucks or undercarriages.-Relates to means for imparting an approximatelyhorizontal direction to vertical impulses received from the axle-boxes or wheels. The ordinary bearing-springs 1 are connected at their centres to the axle-boxes, and at one or both ends to bellcrank levers 5, 9 pivoted to rods 12 having springs 10, 10<a>, which may bear against the common bracket 11. India-rubber springs with cupped rings or perforated springs, as described in Specification No. 19,011, A.D. 1894, are preferably used. The rods 12 are in some cases not fitted with springs. Fig. 4 shows a modification, in which the rod 12 is in two parts with a supplementary spring between them.
