Abstract
22,678. Smith, A., and Jackson, S. Nov. 11. Loom shuttle-changing mechanism; stop-motions. -Relates to shuttle-changing apparatus of the kind described in Specification No. 22,523, A.D. 1900. A shaft 9, mounted loosely in brackets 11, carries two fingers 12, 13 and an arm 14. The finger 12 is connected to the stopping and starting- handle 4, and the finger 13 is connected by a rod 17 to a lever 18 which puts the clutch mechanism into or out of action, as described in Specification No. 22,523, A.D. 1900. A lever 21 is pivoted to the arm 14, and may be set by the operative so as to engage with a pin 22 on the weft-fork lever 7. When the weft is nearly exhausted, the lever may be set in this manner, so that the loom is brought to rest, a full shuttle supplied from the magazine, and the loom re-started; if the weft breaks or fails without being noticed by the operative, the loom stops, and the shuttle may be changed by hand.
