Abstract

20,423. Burnand, W. E. Oct. 12. Transformers.-Relates to improvements upon the transformer described in Specification No. 21,410, A.D. 1897. The core is built up of a number of plates a, groups of which are separated by brass rods or tubes b and staggered as shown in Fig. 2. The windings are then placed on, and the core built up as indicated in Fig. 5, the corners being clamped together by clamps g, g<1>, h, h<1>. The whole is enclosed in a casing, a fan being arranged to produce a current of air, which passes in through an opening to the bottom and also through the clamps, which are arranged to produce a circulation. In order to increase the flow of air, it is discharged into a space between conical plates k, l as shown in Fig. 7, in which j is a motor driving the fan i.
