Abstract
16,673. Hembree, E. M., and Gufford, W. S. Aug. 19. Eyelets; lacing- fastenings.- Boots, shoes, gloves, corsets, leggings, &c. are provided on each side of the opening to be closed with eyelets 8, each formed on an arm 5, Fig. 4, and secured to the edges of the boot &c. either by means of prongs 7, which are forced through the leather &c. and then clinched, or by stamping an eyelet from the portion 6 and then setting this as usual. The lace is passed through eyelets 4 of usual form, and is then threaded through the first pair of eyelets 8, and then through a loop 11, preferably formed with lugs 12, adapted to support ornaments as shown in Fig. 8, then through the next pair of eyelets, and so on, as shown in Fig. 1, the lace being finally tied above the loop 14. Knots &c. 15 prevent the loop 14 from escaping, but allow the edges 1 of the shoe &c. to be drawn apart far enough to allow the shoe &c. to be put on or off.
