13,290. Prawatke, A. June 29. Drying fruit &c.-Apparatus for drying vegetables, fruit, blood, &c. on gratings or trays is shown in Fig. 1. The material is placed in trays in a drying-chamber A, and is dried by air heated in a chamber B passing upwards through the drying- chamber, which may be one of a series. To prevent the loss of the material dropping from the trays, the floor b slopes towards a central air opening, under which catch pans a are placed. The catch pans are centrally pivoted, and their outer ends can be raised or lowered to adjust the air opening. In a modification, one catch pan is used which may be tilted, or the pan a, Fig. 5, may run on rollers g so as to regulate the size of the air passage d between the pan and the floor b.
