Abstract
8623. Michaelis, K. April 26. Dark slides; change-boxes.-Each plate is provided with a metallic backing, and a set of, say, a dozen plates is encircled by a frame of cardboard b, and with a piece of cardboard d at the back is slid endwise into a case c with a lid p, which is kept light-tight by a lining of plush l. The plates and frame b are transferred to a dark slide, Fig. 4, or the magazine of a camera, through an opening at either end closed by a slide m. When the shutter h is withdrawn to expose the top plate, all the plates a are lifted by a spring r, so that, on pulling out the drawer, the top plate is retained in the dark slide by contact with the shutter, and falls as in Fig. 6. On returning the drawer, the exposed plate enters between the bottom plate in the drawer and the spring r. After exposure, the plates and frame are returned to the case c.
