7381. Canziani, E., [Banchieri, L.]. April 10. Tyres, pneumatic.-Relates to the manufacture of tyres which are attached to the wheel rim by wires inserted in the edges of the canvas lining. Around the circular metal cylinder 1 is placed a layer 2 of unvulcanized rubber, on which is superposed a similar narrower layer 3 for thickening the tread. Metal or other strips 4, 5 are placed round the edges of the layer 2, and are partly overlapped by a canvas band 6 impregnated with rubber solution. A similar canvas band 7, wide enough to allow its edges to project beyond the strips 4, 5, is then placed on, and, after canvas has been tightly bound round, the whole is vulcanized. After vulcanization and removal from the cylinder 1, the strips 4, 5 are removed, and the attaching-wires are inserted and secured by folding back the canvas to form pockets.
