5149. Dannert, F. March 11. Mixing gases; carburetting.-Gas is mixed with oxygen by passing the former through a special cartridge, which is inserted in the gas main. The cartridge contains a porous body, such as carbon or pumicestone, which has the property of condensing gases therein, and which has been subjected to oxygen under pressure. The cartridges may also be used in connection with carburetting-apparatus, the carburetted air being passed through them so that it contains more than the usual amount of oxygen.
